Midland has always been a place of contrasts. Oil wealth and deep need have coexisted here for generations, through every boom and bust the Permian Basin has seen.
John-Mark and Briana Echols grew up knowing this. When they felt called to act, they sold their home, left their careers, and started building, one tiny house at a time, a permanent community where people could put down roots and rebuild their lives.
Filmmaker Matthew Maxwell returned to his hometown to document what that kind of commitment looks like over years, not weeks. This is what he found.
